Revealing War: A Conversation about Art and Journalism in the 21st Century

Tim Hetherington's work was part of a panel discussion at Princeton University on Thursday 27th April 2017. Titled 'Revealing War: A Conversation about Art and Journalism in the 21st Century'  the panel examined the moral responsibilities and contemporary challenges of representing suffering in conflict. Specifically, the body of work created by Tim in regards to the civil wars in Afghanistan and West Africa were discussed alongside the work of photographer Edmund Clark, whose documentation of the American naval base at Guantánamo Bay was also examined. 

Members of the panel included: Nicholas Schmidle, investigative journalist, staff writer at The New Yorker and Ferris Professor of Journalism; Daniel Heyman, artist, and lecturer in visual arts and the Lewis Center for the Arts; and Katherine Bussard, the Peter C. Bunnell Curator of Photography at Princeton University Art Museum.
