“Long Story Bit By Bit” entwines documentary photography, oral testimony, and personal writing to explore the dynamics of power, international complicity, and the search for justice in recent Liberian history. “Long Story Bit By Bit” brings to life an extraordinary range of characters from war-lords to presidents, environmental activists to traditional hunters, political hustlers to democratic visionaries.  During the five years that Tim lived and worked in Liberia documenting the second civil war and ensuing peace he became preoccupied with the dynamics of power: from the raw power wielded by the young men of rebel groups to the corrupt power of the transitional government to the possibilities of a democratically elected president. This book and exhibition brings names and faces to news headlines, and in doing so demonstrates that what happened in Liberia was not the product of inexplicable and random chaos.
